Students Explore Mushroom Farming

Year 10 Agriculture were lucky enough to have a tour of Moruya's local mushroom growers 'Forest Door' on Tuesday morning. Alex and Lil were very knowledgeable about all things edible and medicinal mushrooms, they showed students where substrate was pasteurised and mushroom spawn was mixed and bagged up to grow the mycelium. They also allowed students to view they areas where create their own mushroom spawn and grow room where mushroom varieties like oyster, reishi, lions mane and shitake were on display. What a great experience and right here in Moruya!
