Year 12 Biology attended an excursion to Sydney where they visited the Museum of Human Disease and participated in a workshop to learn about infectious and non-infectious diseases whilst viewing 3,000 specimens of diseased tissues with clinical history explanations. On the second day students travelled to the University of Sydney to attend two kick start workshops which gave them a hands on understanding of the concepts in genetics, disease diagnosis, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Students learnt skills in micro pipetting, gel electrophoresis, plasmid design and protein purification. Students also enjoyed the lights of the VIVID light festival at night around Sydney Harbour.
