The Open Boys Soccer team represented the school at the Eurobodalla Zone Open's Boys Soccer gala day at Gundary on the 2nd May.
The boys played some excellent soccer during the day, firstly beating Monaro 2-1. Their next match was against Eden Marine High and both teams were excellent in defense while Oscar H kept our team in it with great goal-keeping! The game ended in a draw which left Eden on top of the table and Moruya in second place.
This led to Moruya having to beat Batemans Bay High in their Semi. They held the game 1-0 until the final 5 minutes, when Batemans Bay were awarded a penalty shot and led to a 1-1 draw, meaning they had to play extra time. A winner was not decided so the teams had to go to penalty shootout, and despite missing their first shot, Moruya were able to come back and win from the 5 shots.
However, this saw the boys enter the final against Eden with some very tired legs which Mr Roberts feels was a big factor in the end. The boys put in an amazing amount of effort and represented the school with great pride, however Eden eventually took the match 2-0.
Standout players included Leo W, Kaleb M, Bluey S, Kobi B and Oscar H.
