Windswept is Sailing

In 2023 John Mathias donated his beloved yacht Windswept to our school with a view that it would be an excellent learning experience for some students to restore it.

Last year, teacher Jack Egan and students from the Support Unit worked hard restoring the boat and trailer to excellent condition and seaworthiness.

The yacht is now kept with its mast up at the Batemans Bay Sailing Club where it is only a 300m tow to the Hanging Rock boat ramp and is now regularly in the water with students aboard. It was such a delight to have John Mathias on board and witnessing the students being able to enjoy the sailing experience. We look forward to many groups of students from across the whole school experiencing the joys of sailing over the coming years.
