Together in Harmony

assembly

The end of Harmony Week concluded with a formal assembly on Friday 21 March with a number of speakers on various topics.  Bradley Mumbulla and Elsie Jane Stanley gave the Acknowledgement to Country, Principal Mark English spoke about discrimination and encouraged people to be kind and stand up for each other. Aunty Trish spoke about the gap in life expectancy between First Nations and non First Nations people and how this will impact people like her personally.

Jack talked about the importance of support and inclusion for people with disabilities and Jayce expressed their experiences as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community with regards to both the discrimination and acceptance they have faced at school.

Our guest speaker Waine Donovan, former student and local organiser for the NSW Teachers Federaton talked openly about the damaging impact that both racial and homophobic discrimination had on him as a student.

Clontarf Academy Dane Kennedy and teacher Georgia Mood both provided amazing musical performances.

After assembly students and staff were treated to delicious cupcakes catered by our TAS faculty.
