I understand that the closure of most schools in the area yesterday caused some confusion in the community about whether Moruya High School was open or shut. Moruya High School is one of the safest places in the event of a fire rating Extreme or Catastrophic.
Moruya High School was used as an evacuation site for the fires that affected us in 2019 - 2020. Across the road are the showgrounds which are the main evacuation site for the Eurobodalla.
To make it clear with a pending Hot summer to come, Moruya High School will remain open no matter what the fire rating is.
