Moruya High Biology students attended an excursion to Sydney where they visited the Museum of Human Disease to participate in a workshop learning about infectious and non-infectious disease and viewed specimens of diseased tissues.
On the second day students travelled to the University of Sydney to attend two kick start workshops. These workshops were hands-on and featured equipment and models to aid the understanding of concepts in the fields of genetics, disease diagnosis, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Our students developed skills in micropipetting, gel electrophoresis, plasmid design and protein purification amongst others. This experience helped to understand many of the skills and knowledge within module 6, 7 and 8 of the HSC Biology syllabus.
