Year 9 Agriculture Excursion and Turmeric Harvest Success

Last week during Monday's lesson, students participated enthusiastically in harvesting and preparing a large crop of turmeric for consumption and storage for next years planting. 

On Wednesday students from year 9 Agriculture travelled to Jigamy farm, in Eden. Here they worked with Costa from Gardening Australia and other skilled and knowledgeable people in the field to plant garlic and learn about the range of species and how they are best grown in our local climate. Students also took park in a garden 'working bee' to create a workable farm space, create a soil mix for seedlings and learnt about the benefits of green manures and layered 'lasagne' garden beds.
