Day 3 Harmony Week - Indigenous Games and the Privilege Walk

students in harmony day activity

In the afternoon Years 9 and 10 took part in a variety of Indigenous games, including touch football, Buroinjin, and Borna Jokee. Buroinjin, a traditional game of the Kabi Kabi people from South Queensland, was originally played with a ball made from kangaroo skin, known as a 'Buroinjin'. Borna Jokee, originating from Western Australia, was designed to simulate the skillful throwing and dodging of a spear. These activities provided students with a valuable opportunity to engage with and appreciate Indigenous culture through sport.

Year 9 and 10 students also took part in the priviledged walk this afternoon. This walk was to highlight the fact that regardless of who you are or what advantages or disadvantages you may experience, there is no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed and that you can make a choice with support always being available.
