MAD Success at Moruya High School

MAD Night

The annual Moruya High School MAD Night was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talents of students from Years 7 to 12. The packed school hall provided a vibrant atmosphere as students performed music, art, drama, and dance.

A Welcome To Country commenced the evening, followed by Indigenous dancers gracing the stage with traditional dances that reflected pride in culture and connection to their country. The evening featured a special performance by the Moruya Public School Band, mentored by high school music teachers. The band performed two songs, including "Bad Moon Rising" and "I Made It”.

The event showcased a diverse range of student talent, from heartfelt solos to energetic group performances. Year 8 student Lili P impressed the audience with her original song, while the Year 9 band's cover of “I’m on Smoko” had the crowd clapping and singing along.

Miss Mason’s Drama Club, composed of students from Year 7-11, performed two drama skits, one an original devised piece set in the medieval king’s court, reflecting the king’s very particular taste for talent, while the other skit, put performers in a ‘Thank God You’re Here’, situation requiring them to act ‘in the moment’ to a unseen situation constructed especially for the evening.

The visual arts also played a prominent role in the evening, with the school hall transformed into a gallery showcasing a variety of student artworks. From intricate lino prints to expressive self-portraits, the students' creativity was on full display.

The evening was a testament to the dedication and hard work of all involved. The students' performances were exceptional, reflecting the high-quality education they receive at Moruya High School. The support from teachers, staff, and the community was instrumental in making MAD Night a memorable event.

Overall, MAD Night was a celebration of creativity, diversity, and the power of education. It was a true showcase of the talent and potential of the young people of Moruya.
