Our Year 12 Agriculture and Food Technology students are midway through their week long Murray Darling camp, supporting a variety of syllabus outcomes. This trip is unique to MHS and provides our students an opportunity to witness larger scale irrigation farming, emerging technology in farming, continuous food processing in factories and the development and marketing of food products. We have visited the saleyards in Yass, camped at Hume Dam and stopped in at Yarrawonga Weir as the starting point for Murray River irrigation. We are currently in Echuca, Victoria and this morning we were able to see automated planting of tomatoes in action on a very large farm, where 30 000 seedlings are planted in an hour!
