New Roll Call Program

Students in science lab

This year, Moruya High School is implementing a new ‘homeroom style’ roll call program. The program focuses on creating positive teacher student relationships through engaging in specific student interest areas such as, agriculture, sport, science, music etc. and the overall wellbeing of students. Students spend one lesson per week, engaged in a task surrounding concepts, which include goal setting, relationships, wellbeing, and social emotional learning and the school’s core values (respect, responsibility and aspiration). The idea of the interest areas is to engage students in an extracurricular activity to promote school engagement and provide students with an active and enjoyable start to their day.

Students in the science roll call are undertaking a year-long investigation to monitor whether Mantle Hill Creek is impacted by the school's agricultural plot. Students collect water samples and test them for key physical and chemical parameters such as pH and electrical conductivity. Students are required to use scientific equipment and check to make sure they are functioning correctly.
