Students enjoyed an excursion to Gulaga Gold Truffle farm in Dignams Creek as part of their mushroom production topic. They participated in a truffle hunt by watching a truffle dog and its owner find and tag truffles and then going to dig them up with a lot of success. Students also participated in a study looking at the effect of adding different substances to soil around trees to enhance truffle growth. This will go on for the next 5 years and we are excited to see the results. Finally students enjoyed the warmth of a fire and tasting session where they sampled a range of truffle products ranging from truffle infused oil and balsamic glaze to cheeses and ice cream. What a treat!
