Australian Geography Competition

Students in Years 7 - 10 LEAP participated in the Australian Geography Competition in early term 2. The Competition is a contest for Australian secondary school students, assessing their geographical knowledge and skills and aims to encourage student interest in geography and to reward student excellence. The Competition consists of mainly multiple-choice questions testing geographical knowledge and skills. Our LEAP students participated in the competition, as the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation's Literature Review on Revisiting Gifted Education notes "competitions can extend and motivate gifted students by enhancing students’ self directed learning skills, team-building skills and student self satisfaction". Across the four year groups, Moruya achieved 5 Credits, 4 Distinctions, and 1 High Distinction. Well done to our students.
