The Easter Bunny was not able to deliver a miracle to the Moruya High’s Boys Volleyball team just before Good Friday.
The team played quality volleyball, with dashes of brilliance from Harrison C and Mishka S when under pressure. All of the team fought hard for every set but after a long day of travel to Cooma and many quick games were unable to get in a position to qualify for the next round of the CHS competition.
The team started well with a two set victory against Eden. After losing the first set to eventual competition winners Narooma, they fought back to lead in the second set after some solid serving by Anthony L. Unfortunately, we ran out of time and Narooma got the points.
This was followed by a loss to Batemans Bay, a draw with Monaro, and then a loss to Bombala.
Our boys fought hard to stay in rallies and proved they could match it with the best teams, but unforced errors and lack of consistency were our nemesis in Cooma.
I was really proud of the sportsmanship and team dynamic on the day as the boys showed maturity and class on and off the court.
