Ag Plot
The Agriculture Plot at Moruya High School is a hands-on learning space where students engage with a variety of agricultural activities, from growing vegetables to managing livestock. This dedicated area allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, enhancing their understanding of sustainable farming practices, soil health, and food production. Integrated into the school curriculum, the Agriculture Plot provides opportunities for students to participate in environmental studies, biology, and even business education through managing crops and resources. This practical learning experience not only fosters a deeper connection with nature but also equips students with valuable skills for future careers in agriculture, environmental science, or agribusiness. The plot is an integral part of Moruya High’s commitment to offering diverse, experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.
Fish Farm
Moruya High School has its own working fish farm. It is run by our elective Year 9 and 10 students. The school holds a Department of Primary Industries Permit to sell the fish farmed on site. The farm consists of two recirculating aquaponic systems. There is a smaller 2,500 litre system for our younger fish and a 10,000 litre system to grow the fish on. The fish farm offers aquaculture students a real life opportunity to study sustainable land based fish farming practices. It also offers our science students an opportunity to study a range of biology topics outside of the classroom.
Multimedia
Our school empowers students to unleash their creative potential with state-of-the-art technology. They have the opportunity to capture breathtaking aerial perspectives with high-resolution drones, and film stabilised cinematic shots with precision camera gimbals. Students can use motion capture technology, bringing digital characters to life with full-body tracking suits and facial tracking, or master industry standard software like Adobe Creative Cloud, from Photoshop to Premiere Pro. We'll nurture their passion for storytelling and equip them with the skills to bring their visions to life. This hands-on experience will prepare them for exciting careers in film, television, animation, and video game industries.
Commercial Kitchen & Trade Training Centre
Our state-of-the-art commercial kitchens are more than just classrooms, they provide a stepping stone to exciting careers in the hospitality industry. Students gain hands-on experience with industrial equipment, from blast freezers to professional coffee machines. Through our Food Technology and Hospitality courses, students learn culinary skills and hospitality management. We equip students with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the food and hospitality industry by mastering skills that could land them jobs in top restaurants or cafes.
Outdoor Learning Area
Moruya High School is committed to fostering a connection with the natural world. Students have the opportunity to learn and grow in our beautiful outdoor learning areas, including a cultural learning space and yarning circle. Outdoor classroom settings provide hands on experiences including beekeeping and cultural weaving. These activities can increase engagement and develop problem-solving skills and creativity. These experiences provide students with the chance to thrive in an environment that values both academic excellence and personal growth.
Library
Our school library is a vibrant hub of learning and exploration. It offers a welcoming space for students to read, study, and collaborate. With a diverse collection of books and other resources the library caters to all interests and learning levels. Whether you're researching for an assignment or escaping into the world of fiction, there's something for everyone. The library is equipped with modern technology, including computers to support 21st-century learning. It plays a vital role in nurturing the academic and personal growth of every student. Beyond books, the library serves as a collaborative space where students can share ideas and work on group projects, including a variety of HSC resources for senior students in a dedicated senior area.
